General Discussion / House Cleaning.... clearing inactive members
« on: July 25, 2016, 09:20:29 PM »
Howdy Folks,

In an effort to clear up space and tidy things up on our site, I have taken the approach to clear/delete any members that have not logged in for 1 1/2 years. This has cleared out literally hundreds of spam accounts that I have banned over the years (probably more accurately in the thousands). Unfortunately though, it has also cleared some members that are legit, but have not contributed in a long time.

If you are reading this, are one of the members that have been away for a while, tried to log in but were cleared, my apologies. Please create a new account, we would love to hear from you again.

Hope everyone is having a fantastic summer and burning up some tread!

Lets Ride! / Saturday July 23rd, Snowmass Ice Age Exhibit
« on: July 10, 2016, 08:35:11 PM »
As some of you out there in vintage motorcycle land know, I am also involved with the Western Slope Mazda Miata car group. Well, saying that, we have had a suggestion to invite the motorcycle group on our next adventure on Saturday July 23rd to visit the Ice Age Exhibit in Snowmass. And since Mazda Miata's are close the the same size as motorcycles, it seems like a good fit..... after all, what is a couple extra wheels amongst friends right?  :banana

Here are the details of the trip:

This will be a trip to the Snowmass Ice Age Exhibit in Snowmass Village. We will plan to take the boring route to get there, but will plan to come back over McClure Pass...we might even try a stop at Drost chocolates in Cedaredge on the way back. We'll head out from Slice Of Life Bakery on 3rd St in Downtown Palisade, and make the 2 hour trip via I-70 through Glenwood Springs on Hwy 82 to Snowmass. We will want to be on the road by 9:00 am, so plan to show up early at the bakery if you want to indulge in their fantastic eats and chat with the group.

This will be a very interesting site to visit, I remember hearing all about it when the first discoveries were made 6 years ago, and it was national news. The admission is free, so that is an extra bonus! We will also plan to eat some lunch at the Snowmass Village Mall ....anyone know a good spot? Plan a full day for this adventure.

Check out their website:[]

If you are out of the Grand Junction area and want to meet up with us in Snowmass, we should be arriving about 11:15 ish and we would love to see ya!

Here is a last minute announcement....I just found out about this;
There is a documentary about several guys doing an Adventure motorcycle ride through Colorado (I think it is sponsored by BMW??) showing for one night only at the Regal Cinema 14 here in Grand Junction (For those out of the area, it may be showing in your local theater). It is called “A Story Worth Living”, and all I know about it is from the trailer, but it looks like it might be pretty good.
Here is a link to the YouTube trailer, as well as to the theater for show info. I believe it starts at 7:30 pm, and is a one night only for tomorrow eve 5/19

General Discussion / Outdoor bike nights??????
« on: March 25, 2016, 07:26:03 PM »
Ok, it is almost to the point of meeting outdoors for Thursday bike nights. I think most folks are tired of Sonic, food is just so so and the service is terrible. However, it does offer plenty of tables and our precious motorcycles are right there in plain sight. I personally would like to find a new spot, so lets open this thread up to suggestions.

A couple of things to consider:

A central location...
Good food...
Outdoor tables....
Motorcycles in plain view....
And COFFEE  }v

A friend has suggested Enzo's on Horizon dr. to me today. I think that is a fabulous idea, with plenty of parking for the motorcycles in plain view of the patio. Downfall is that seating might be very limited, and could be a bit pricey for just a hang out night.

What say you?

General Discussion / Sad News
« on: March 13, 2016, 07:41:37 PM »
Well, it always sad to report when someone that has given so much to the sport has passed away. Many of you have had the privilege to meet and chat with Dr. Dave Keiffer over the last couple of years here in G.J., and I consider it an honor to have had the chance to get to know him a little bit myself. Dr. Dave passed away on Feb 14, 2016 at the Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Dr. Dave Keiffer had an extensive medical background in sports medicine and orthopedic surgery (a very long list!) starting in the early 70's. He was also team physician for several universities, as well as the U.S. Olympic Cycling team in 72', and the U.S. Alpine Ski team from 73'-2005. As a motorcycle enthusiast, he raced in the Motorcycle Roadracing Assoc. (MRA) as well as in the American Motorcycle Assoc. (AMA) Pro Superbike Championships from the early 80's - the late 90's, and was named the AMA's "Sportsman of the Year" in 1986. And if that is not enough, Dr. Dave also served in a variety of organizational capacities, including on the Medical Advisory Board to the AMA, and as Chief Medical Officer to the AMA in 2005. He also served as the Federation Internationale de Motorcyclisme's (FIM) chief medical officer multiple times, including during the 2008 Moto GP and World Superbike Championships. And the list goes on and on.

Dr. Dave, you will be missed. You gave a lot to the sport we love, and it is better because of you.
